The Westside Boxing Club was established in 2007 by the Saucedo Ruiz boxing family. In a short period, Westside has developed a reputation as a true and traditional “fight gym." ESPN recently recognized the club as one of Boxing's Most Famous Gyms.
Under the helm of family patriarch, Jose Manuel Saucedo, brothers Jose and Nacho Saucedo serve as head trainers.
With support from Steven Ho, and Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, the gym has been a go-to spot for Los Angeles media workouts, as well as a secluded LA training center for world-class fighters including Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Victor Ortiz, Sugar Shane Mosley, Marcos Maidana, and many others (see Gallery of Boxers).
Film productions and actors have also found refuge in the “old school” atmosphere of the gym. For example, Robert De Niro and his training team trained privately at the Westside Boxing Club in preparation for his role in the feature film The Grudge Match.
The Westside Boxing Club has taken the responsibility of developing young fighters from the area into future champions.
In March of 2018 Westside Boxing welcomed Super Lightweight Herbert Acevedo (14-2, 6 KOS), Welterweight Richard Acevedo (2-0, 2 KOs) and Super Featherweight Oscar Acevedo (2-0) are officially part of the exclusive Westside Boxing Stable. Keep an eye out for these 3 brothers "Team Ace"
